¶ THIS TYPE FACE, FELLOWSHIP, was a tribute to the ATF (American Typecasting Fellowship) guys. Now I can't remember why.
Fellowship was drawn at a small point size (about 42 point) where usually I draw lager at the design stage. I sharpened the pencil to a flat calligraphic shape and more or less wrote the letters, rather than drawing them. I hand cut them at 24 point in lead models and electroplated them as copper matrices. I have made them so that they can be cast on a Super Caster [English Monotype] or a Thompson [American Monotype]. The digital version is just slightly lighter than the metal, and two or three characters have been reworked to a better shape.
