WNY Book Arts Center in conjunction with White Pine Press presents
The Art of the Broadside
A special Exhibit/Sale/Auction Event
The Art of the Broadside celebrates forty years of the art of the poetry broadside drawn from the collection of White Pine Press. The collection available for sale and auction includes work by nationally known poets including Diane DiPrima, Denise Levertov, Robert Creeley, Jerome Rothenberg, David St. John, Jane Hirshfield, Donald Hall, and many others. Included in the collection is vintage work by Buffalo artist Michael Morgulis.
The broadside as a medium dates back to the 1600s where proclamations were posted in public spaces. The broadside has evolved in recent years to become a venue for limited edition prints by poets and artists as a connection to the historical medium and the tangible object made with deliberate care. Often printed with letterpress or silkscreen methods and signed by the poets, these broadsides range form a very affordable piece of art to highly collectible works.
This rare opportunity to own signed broadsides by noted poets and artists is presented from the collection of White Pine Press at the WNY Book Arts Center 468 Washington St. Downtown Buffalo NY
