Licensing Examples (Licensing)
Large Scale Campaign
This type of licensing comes into play when a large company is using P22 fonts in the course of entertainment promotion, advertising, corporate identity design, product packaging, store signage or in any way that requires the multi media (television, internet, print or other) output of the font(s)
EXAMPLE 1 — A large coffee shop chain use of P22 Cezanne
A large coffee shop chain has used P22 Cezanne™ (as well as other P22 fonts) for over 5 years in a manner that goes beyond the standard fair use clause in all versions of the P22 EULA.
This type of usage would require an additional fee based on number of products manufactured, store locations and scope of use. The initial licensing fee for the proper number of users is only one component to this type of licensing.
A large coffee shop chain's usage of Cezanne™ encompasses:
  1. International in-store wall decoration (over 4,000 locations).
  2. Point of purchase in store display items.
  3. Coffee and other product packaging.
  4. Annual Reports
  5. Use of text as a decorative (rather than textual) element on products for resale and value added illustration (gift wrap tissue, Mint tins, Ceramic Coffee mugs, ceramic shot glasses, Plastic travel mugs and more)
EXAMPLE 2 — The Wiggles™ use of P22 Daddy-O
This Large Scale Campaign use involves many sub-licensors of the Wiggles Brand. Provided each of the licensed manufacturers are properly licensed for their own use of the fonts, there would be no additional licensing fee. The alternate to this is to have a master license which allows distribution of the font to the sub-licensees.

The Wiggles™ usage of Daddy-O™ includes:
  1. CD and DVD packaging
  2. Television Titling and Credits
  3. Sub-Licensed Product manufacturing and packaging for and including: Musical Toys, Books Puzzles, Games, Party Favors, Cards, Dinnerware, Stickers, Watches, and dozens more.
  4. Web-site use
Value Added Use
A royalty based Commercial license is required when P22 font software is used to create a product sold for profit. If you have purchased the font(s) license for use as the principle design element to create a product to be sold such as, not limited to, rubber stamps, refrigerator magnets, or if the usage of the font adds value (value added) to a product to be sold such as wrist watches, house numbers, stencil kits, decals, digital art (screen savers, 3-D models, or other computer application).
EXAMPLE 1 — Greggo™ use of P22 Petroglyphs™ & P22 Hieroglyphics
Greggo Magnets has properly licensed their magnets which incorporate P22 illustrative fonts as the primary design element. There is a reasonable royalty rate arrangement that allows this type of use.
Each scenario will vary depending on the scale and scope of use. We try to be as accommodating as possible and strive to develop a fair method for determining if a font requires any additional licensing. Thank you for considering P22 fonts for your needs.
