¶ ABOVE MY HEAD is a David Lance Goines print. The print depicts a Chandler & Price platen press.
Generally speaking I restricted my collecting to books. Although I attempted to purchase a painting by Canadian master painter, Dick Turner. I stress 'master painter'.
Regrettably my occupation has caused wear and tear on my book collection. My collection was in daily service.
Although I don't have many, I enjoy the book productions of Bruce Rogers.
And it would have been easy for Goudy to learn something about paper. Almost all of Goudy's productions are falling apart from strong acids in the paper. Fine books should at least outlast their builder.
I have many books by John Henry Nash. People seem unable to fully appreciate the work of Nash because they are not technically able to understand the 'particular quality'.
Nash was a fastidious meticulous genius when working with typographical rules. I recommend that those who have discounted Nash should take a second look at his rule work. It has perfect joints even when seemingly impossible from a mechanical point of view. I challenge anyone to match his work with the same technology.
Nash had the benefit of having Joseph FauntLeRoy as his pressman. I purchased a book written and printed by FauntLeRoy describing the method employed in Nash's rule work. The book rather than being helpful, intimidates.
I have immense respect for Andrew Hoyem of the Arion Press in San Francisco. 'Andrew has the uncanny ability to not repeat himself with one single exception, his success.'

NO, NO, I READ A BOOK ONCE
¶ MY WORKING DAY started at four in the morning. This allowed several hours of creative time before the regular hum drum activities.
Weekends were meaningless except for boating.
