¶ THE ALBERTAN SERIES: Depth of typographical understanding such as Rimmer's is unimaginable to those without hot metal typefounding experience. Frankly it is unimaginable even to those "with" hot metal typefounding experience.
I have personally known Jim for many years beginning our friendship in 1974.
Albertan was a departure for Jim, his first type design to be digitized. His previous faces were cut in lead, electro-deposited forming matrices and then they were cast into foundry types. I believe Rimmer produced one face for photo-comp. For sure he is prolific, his type designs bulge from wooden drawers. His 'tally of types' matching that of Goudy's.
Time permitting I will tell more about Rimmer, a type designer you should become familiar with. His work certainly worthy of your attentions.
