INTRODUCING RTF Stern

A New Font in TrueType, PostScript OpenType & Hot Metal!

Just announced at TypeCon in Buffalo, NY, Stern is a typographic first: it marks the first time a font is simultaneously released both digitally and in metal. Stern, named for the late printer Christopher Stern, is an upright Italic designed by Jim Rimmer intended for poetry settings and numerous other uses. The making of this typeface is also being made into a documentary shot in HD video.

DIGITAL
The digital version of RTF Stern includes the OpenType Pro version plus four non-pro versions included for applications that do not support OpenType. The set features Stern Aldine, Regular, Tall Caps & Small Caps.

METAL
The (16pt on 18pt body) metal version of Stern is shipped directly from Pie Tree foundry in Vancouver, BC. It is cast to order by Jim Rimmer using foundry metal.

SPECIMEN BOOKLET
A special limited edition specimen booklet was printed by Coach House Press in Toronto, ON. The duotone photos by Anna Prior are printed with silver highlights in the specimen portions that accent the feel of the type & tools used to make Stern. The booklet includes a bound-in letterpress specimen printed on Japanese rice paper and a single metal letter!

FLASH
In collaboration with Buffalo-based JRVisuals, who developed the "Type is Art" interactive web project, a special TypeIsArt Stern project allows you to create images with the component parts of the Stern font.

P22 Playing Cards

Back in 2004, P22 produced a specimen deck of cards that featured 52 different fonts on a standard regulation deck of playing cards. These were gobbled up quickly, so we held a contest to have guest designers complete a second deck. Briefly lost in the vortex of too many other things, deck #2 is finally finished with all new designs and, dare we say, it’s even better than the first one!

While supplies last, you can get a deck free with any purchase of $100 or more. Just order anything over $100 and add the "card bonus” to your shopping cart and we will send you the cards! If you don't think that's a good enough excuse to buy a bunch of fonts, we will offer the decks for sale at $10 each plus shipping. Supplies are limited and as black market prices for the first deck indicate, this is a good price indeed.

Cigno

P22 Cigno is a new digitization of the 1950s Italian typeface by Aldo Novarese for the Nebiolo foundry. Both fonts feature a full Western European character set.

Buy the set of 2 fonts for $29.95. No, scratch that. For the first month, we’ll offer both fonts for the price of 1- only $19.95. OK, now you have to buy them! Offer good until June 30, 2008

Sneaky

P22 Sneaky is the newest font by award winning type designer Michael Clark. Sneaky is a connecting-script and sibling of his popular Pooper Black type which shares a similar flow and casual elegance. It features shared details and relative size so that with careful design, the two can be mixed and matched. Sneaky Pro features over 500 glyphs with alternates and a Central European character set.

Would you like new fonts? Sure Would!

The Sherwood Collection from Ted Staunton features a new web redesign to reflect the P22, IHOF & Lanston redesigns.

Introducing two new handwritten style font sets from Ted Staunton's Sherwood
Collection at P22 type foundry. Both styles are sure to please the fan of
P22's collection of handwriting fonts looking for something just a bit
different from anything else out there.

Albemarle is a new script font by Ted Staunton for the Sherwood Collection.
It may look vaguely familiar since it is a smooth re-working of his popular
rough textured Roanoke font. The change in texture gives this font’s style a
very different effect.

Kaz is a casual, yet sturdy, hand lettering font that fits somewhere between
architectural lettering and "comic sans". Kaz Thin offers a variation for
the look of a thinner pen.

Both sets are available in OpenType Pro versions with ligatures, alternates
and full CE character sets. The Pro sets also include the basic versions in
TrueType, PostScript and Opentype.

For the month of March 2008, get either set at 10% off!
